THE 5th GELATO WORLD CUP AT SIGEP 2012

Thirteen countries competing from the five continents.


– Among the most eagerly awaited events at the 33rd SIGEP - International Exhibition of artisan Gelato, Pastry, Confectionery and Bakery production, being held at Rimini Fiera from Saturday 21st to Wednesday 25th January 2012 in 90,000 m2, with approximately 750 companies – the outstanding fifth edition of the Gelato World Cup, the great event held every two years and organized in collaboration with Co-Gel Fipe Confcommercio.

In 2012 the contest’s entrants increase from ten to twelve nations competing. As well as Italy, absent in 2010 as it was the current champion, in 2012 there will also be teams from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Spain, United States of America, Switzerland and Turkey. All the continents are thus represented, testifying that artisan gelato knows no frontiers. The competition, which will be even more spectacular, will feature the inclusion of news professions in the teams: the theme of the next edition will be “The fruits of the Earth and Sea”. The panel of technical judges will be led by Chairman Mauro Petrini, supported by Honorary Chairman, France’s Jean-Claude David, in representation of the outgoing champion nation.
